I haven’t been diagnosed with diabetes, but I am overweight and my doctor prescribed metformin because my insulin levels are high. Can I drink alcohol — the hard stuff without carbs like vodka, say –while on a low dose of metformin? And if so, how much is too much?

I have read so many things about carbs! I am 32 – female – overweight and I suffer from insulin resistance. How am I supposed to eat? My Dr. took me off potatoes, rice, bread and pasta. Even the good carbs cause bloating, medicine head and general feelings of yucky-ness. But aren’t you supposed to eat carbs?

<div id="X3242" style="display: none; "
It is very expensive to check my blood sugar level 7 to 8 times a
day. To keep my blood sugar above 100 I eat 5 to 6 times per day
plus a bedtime snack. This is working so far, if I exercise the sugar level
drops more so I eat some bread or brown rice. Is this ok.
I am 64 years old man with a type 2 Diabetes for the last 14 years.

I’m a 28-year-old overweight and my recent type 2 diabetes diagnosis has brought on depression.

I’m a 28-year-old overweight female (5′6″, 189 pounds). My recent type 2 diabetes diagnosis has brought on depression. I’m trying to change my diet, but it means that I stay home and eat alone instead of going out with my friends. I find it too hard to resist the burgers and fries when they are right in front of me. I feel lonely and frustrated. Could an antidepressant help me? Is it safe to mix diabetes medication and antidepressants? Could an antidepressant make my diabetes worse?
