{"id":19737,"date":"2011-09-14T06:30:47","date_gmt":"2011-09-14T10:30:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/asweetlife.org\/?p=19737"},"modified":"2015-12-29T08:34:36","modified_gmt":"2015-12-29T13:34:36","slug":"victoza-the-earlier-the-better-new-study-shows","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/asweetlife.org\/?p=19737","title":{"rendered":"Victoza: The Earlier The Better, New Study Shows"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/asweetlife.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/NovoNordiskLogo.png\" rel=\"mfp\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-19741 lazyload\" title=\"NovoNordiskLogo\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" data-src=\"https:\/\/asweetlife.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/NovoNordiskLogo.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"129\" height=\"96\" \/><\/a>New data presented at the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) shows a significantly higher proportion of patients reached target HbA1c levels of \u00a0&lt;7% when Victoza (liraglutide [rDNA origin] injection) was administrated early in the treatment of type 2 diabetes to patients who had not received treatment before or had previously received only one oral anti-diabetic drug (OAD).\u00a0Findings also suggest early use with Victoza provides greater clinical benefit and potential improvement in beta-cell function, as compared with Victoza treatment later in the disease process. \u00a0<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>In a 26-week, pooled sub-group analysis, Victoza administration to patients who had not received any treatment before or previously received only one OAD produced greater glycaemic efficacy than in patients taking two or more OADs. Findings showed 72% of patients treated early with Victoza 1.8 mg achieved EASD HbA1c target of &lt;7% compared with those treated late.\u00a0<\/p>\n<div>\n<div>Another study also presented at EASD, shows that patients who switched from oral therapy with Januvia (sitagliptin) to Novo Nordisk&#8217;s once-daily injectable therapy, Victoza, had an increase in overall treatment satisfaction.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Switching from oral therapy with sitagliptin to injectable therapy with Victoza (both combined with metformin) results in significantly greater reductions in HbA1c and body weight and also increases overall treatment satisfaction Treatment satisfaction was evaluated using the Diabetes Treatment Satisfaction Questionnaire (DTSQ) at 52 and 78 weeks to assess the impact of switching from an oral therapy to an injectable one.\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Patients who switched to Victoza had an increase in overall treatment satisfaction which was largely driven by patients who responded that they would \u2018recommend\u2019 and \u2018continue\u2019 their present treatment with Victoza. The once-daily injectable therapy with Victoza was also ranked by patients as equally convenient and flexible as the oral therapy with
