{"id":22998,"date":"2011-12-20T11:05:14","date_gmt":"2011-12-20T16:05:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/asweetlife.org\/?p=22998"},"modified":"2015-12-27T15:47:24","modified_gmt":"2015-12-27T20:47:24","slug":"the-dessert-war-and-christmas-cats","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/asweetlife.org\/?p=22998","title":{"rendered":"The Dessert War (and Christmas Cats)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0We&#8217;ve been having a rough few days.\u00a0 Little Adam has been sick.\u00a0 And yesterday Mike was hit by a terrible low just as he was on his way out to take Adam to the doctor.\u00a0 Fortunately, I was home to help.\u00a0 Following that low, Mike had inexplicable high blood sugar for the rest of the day.\u00a0 It was only at 2:22 a.m., when I was giving Adam ibuprofen and changing his diaper, that Mike realized there was an occlusion in his insulin pump, which was the cause of all the highs.\u00a0 He got up to change his infusion set.\u00a0 I lay with Adam in my arms, feeling a little sick myself, and wishing for my baby to feel better.\u00a0 And I was also wishing we could just deal with one thing at a time.\u00a0 It feels like every time there&#8217;s something wrong, diabetes shows its fangs and makes the situation worse.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Speaking of fangs, take a look at my festive feline friends!\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/asweetlife.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/CatsXmas.jpg\" rel=\"mfp\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-23003 lazyload\" title=\"CatsXmas\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" data-src=\"https:\/\/asweetlife.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/CatsXmas.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"478\" height=\"640\" data-sizes=\"auto\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/asweetlife.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/CatsXmas.jpg 478w, https:\/\/asweetlife.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/CatsXmas-224x300.jpg 224w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 478px) 100vw, 478px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I asked my eight-year-old son what he thought the cats in the photo were thinking about.\u00a0 &#8220;The black one is thinking about dessert,&#8221;
