It\u2019s true that it isn\u2019t always convenient, and I occasionally get some remarks or questions, but my blood sugar control is so much better (as proven both by the reduction in my HbA1c levels and small number of highs and lows). I\u2019m sure many pumpers feel the way I do about their pumps, a little uncomfortable because of the physical presence, but happy with what they do.\u00a0 This is probably truer to those of us using a pump with tubing like my Medtronic insulin pump.<\/div>\n<div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Today I&#8217;m very happy to report that for once, my pump has turned out to be not a physical bother, but a useful tool.\u00a0\u00a0<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/asweetlife.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/Insulin-Pump-Another-Use.jpg\" rel=\"mfp\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-25822 lazyload\" title=\"Insulin Pump - Another Use\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" data-src=\"https:\/\/asweetlife.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/Insulin-Pump-Another-Use.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"280\" height=\"368\" \/><\/a>On the way back from a morning meeting, I stopped at the Tel Aviv Marathon expo to pick up my race kit &#8211;\u00a0 bib (race number), chip and shirt &#8211; for the half marathon I\u2019m running this weekend. When I got there I discovered that the expo only opened after 4:00 p.m. A little disappointed I decided to go to the Adidas store (one of the official sponsors)\u00a0 to cheer myself up. \u00a0<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">I took a few running shirts and went into one of the changing stalls. When I went to take off my shirt I realized I needed to find somewhere to put my headphones. (I recently bought my first pair of big head phones &#8211; not buds &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B0030XMVY2\/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=asw07-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=B0030XMVY2\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Urbanears<\/a>). \u00a0Since the headphones don&#8217;t fit in my pocket and there was no chair in the stall.\u00a0 I wasn&#8217;t sure what to do.\u00a0 I didn&#8217;t want to put them on the floor.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Then I looked down at my waist and found the perfect spot &#8211; my insulin pump &#8211; clipped to my pants (<a href=\"https:\/\/asweetlife.org\/michael\/blogs\/insulin-pumps\/cellnovo-envy-why-doesn%E2%80%99t-my-insulin-pump-look-like-that\/19985\/\">like a pager<\/a>). I took the headphones off my neck and placed them gently on my pump, and tried a few running shirts on.
