{"id":30556,"date":"2012-09-27T08:09:06","date_gmt":"2012-09-27T12:09:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/asweetlife.org\/?p=30556"},"modified":"2015-12-27T15:47:22","modified_gmt":"2015-12-27T20:47:22","slug":"yom-kippur","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/asweetlife.org\/?p=30556","title":{"rendered":"Tel Aviv on Yom Kippur 2012"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">If you want to know what it would feel like if the world stopped for a day, you should come to Tel Aviv for Yom Kippur. \u00a0On this holiday, the day of atonement, all businesses close and all traffic stops. \u00a0The city normally full of of traffic jams, honking, buses, packed cafes, and a whole lot of hustle and bustle, becomes silent. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Pedestrians and bikers take over the empty streets, my sons included. \u00a0The older boys were off riding bikes with their friends, and little Adam stayed with me and Mike, and showed off his marathon potential. \u00a0I think he ran about half a mile on Tuesday night. \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/asweetlife.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/Yom-Kippor-2012.jpg\" rel=\"mfp\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright  wp-image-30557 lazyload\" title=\"Yom Kippur - 2012\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" data-src=\"https:\/\/asweetlife.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/Yom-Kippor-2012.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"478\" data-sizes=\"auto\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/asweetlife.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/Yom-Kippor-2012.jpg 640w, https:\/\/asweetlife.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/Yom-Kippor-2012-300x224.jpg 300w, https:\/\/asweetlife.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/Yom-Kippor-2012-600x448.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a>As we walked, we met friends and neighbors on nearly every block. \u00a0We couldn&#8217;t stop to talk for long, though, because Adam was on the run.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/asweetlife.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/Yom-Kippor-2012-2-1.jpg\" rel=\"mfp\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-30559 lazyload\" title=\"Yom Kippur - 2012 2\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" data-src=\"https:\/\/asweetlife.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/Yom-Kippor-2012-2-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"448\" height=\"600\" data-sizes=\"auto\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/asweetlife.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/Yom-Kippor-2012-2-1.jpg 448w, https:\/\/asweetlife.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/Yom-Kippor-2012-2-1-224x300.jpg 224w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 448px) 100vw, 448px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">At <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Rabin_Square\" target=\"_blank\">Rabin Square<\/a>, Adam finally got tired. \u00a0He spent some time on Mike&#8217;s shoulders. \u00a0I know the photo is blurry, but maybe you can tell that Adam is holding Mike&#8217;s ears. \u00a0He is doing a lot of this ear-holding lately, and his frequent demand of, &#8220;Mama, I need to hold your ears now,&#8221;
