\"T1D<\/a>T1D Exchange, a non-profit organization focused on type 1 diabetes, and Sanofi have joined forces in the\u00a0TEENs registry study,\u00a0a study aimed at providing\u00a0a better understanding of how children,\u00a0adolescents and young adults are currently living with type 1 diabetes, and to deliver\u00a0recommendations for better disease management and patients outcomes.\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n

TEENs\u00a0is a\u00a0multinational, observational, cross-sectional study that will evaluate the percentage of type 1\u00a0diabetes patients between the ages of 8 and 25 with controlled glycemia, as measured by\u00a0hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c). Secondary outcomes will include measurements of quality of life and\u00a0emotional status, the relationship between glycemic control and quality of life, and the impact of\u00a0factors such as medical care on these two measurements.\u00a0<\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/div>\n
The TEENs study will enroll more than 7,000 people with type 1 diabetes in 20 countries, with a\u00a0sample representative of the typical medical care in the respective country. In the U.S., Sanofi works\u00a0in partnership with T1D Exchange for the recruitment of the young study participants and for\u00a0implementation of this study. Worldwide, Sanofi partners with various clinic centers, hospitals, and\u00a0healthcare professionals.\u00a0<\/div>\n

Data will be collected from healthcare professionals, parents or guardians, and patients. Anticipated\u00a0outcomes include: identification of predictive factors for glucose control and acute complications of\u00a0type 1 diabetes, better understanding of unmet needs of young people with type 1 diabetes in\u00a0different age groups, documentation of insulin regimens in young people with type 1 diabetes, and\u00a0description of the patient journey from pediatric to adult care services.\u00a0<\/div>\n

Results from the TEENs study will be presented at scientific congresses in\u00a02013\u00a0and in\u00a02014<\/div>\n
