{"id":32726,"date":"2013-05-09T10:16:32","date_gmt":"2013-05-09T14:16:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/asweetlife.org\/?p=32726"},"modified":"2015-12-28T05:32:02","modified_gmt":"2015-12-28T10:32:02","slug":"good-news-from-my-eye-doctor-no-diabetic-retinopathy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/asweetlife.org\/?p=32726","title":{"rendered":"Good News From My Eye Doctor: No Diabetic Retinopathy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Last week after receiving a painful middle of the night poke in the eye from Adam, Jessica decided she needed to see the eye doctor and asked me if I wanted her to make an appointment for me too.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I did. I had been planning to go to my regular ophthalmologist ever since I went to have my eyes checked at the diabetes clinic <a href=\"https:\/\/asweetlife.org\/michael\/blogs\/diabetes-management-blogs\/the-beginning-of-diabetic-retinopathy\/29875\/\">a few months ago<\/a> (August, actually). At the clinic a doctor, who looked nothing like a doctor (and not in a cool way) had checked my eyes with one of those machines that shines a light into your eyes and after he finished he said, \u201cYou have the start of diabetic retinopathy in your eyes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I was shocked and upset but decided I should definitely get a second opinion, even go to a retina specialist. But I didn\u2019t.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I told myself there wasn\u2019t much point, I mean, all of my regular eye exams had been fine until this one. How could one doctor see damage and another not? I understand that you can miss something that exists but you can\u2019t see something that doesn\u2019t, right?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Well apparently I was wrong. When I went to my doctor I told him about my check up at the clinic.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWhy didn\u2019t you come sooner?\u201d he asked.\u00a0 \u201cLet\u2019s take a look.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I got on the chair and placed my head into the contraption. He shined a painful yellow light into my eyes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cYou\u2019re clean,\u201d he said. \u201cNext time come to me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cBut how did the other doctor see damage?\u201d I asked.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">My doctor said something I didn\u2019t really understand, but I didn\u2019t care. I was happy to hear I do not have diabetic
