(following the\u00a0May 1st,\u00a02013\u00a0publishing of the hard copy).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This new edition is a revised and updated\u00a0version of the book that was first available in\u00a02011\u00a0by diaTribe.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Back in\u00a02009,\u00a0Targeting a Cure\u00a0began as a research project spearheaded by Lisa Rotenstein, who had just joined\u00a0diaTribe\u2019s\u00a0parent company as a summer associate. The project progressed, \u00a0others got involved, and by\u00a02011\u00a0the once small project\u00a0grew into an authoritative guide for patients on where the search for a type 1 diabetes cure actually stood.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The book offers hope, comfort and insight to those living with type 1 diabetes and their families, and also brings healthcare providers up to\u00a0speed on treatments that might be available in the coming years.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The topics in\u00a0Targeting a Cure\u00a0have a least a decade of research ahead of them (except for the artificial pancreas), but they are also vitally important. These topics can so easily be overshadowed by treatments closer to completion or on the market, but shifting our focus helps us learn how the research on type 1 diabetes is
