{"id":37041,"date":"2011-12-26T07:25:13","date_gmt":"2011-12-26T12:25:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/asweetlife.org\/?p=23139"},"modified":"2015-12-29T02:51:16","modified_gmt":"2015-12-29T07:51:16","slug":"exercise-at-home-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/asweetlife.org\/?p=37041","title":{"rendered":"Exercise at Home"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">For people with diabetes, exercise is generally a great thing.\u00a0 That&#8217;s one of the reasons I always tell myself to exercise more.\u00a0 In fact, I pledge to do it every year.\u00a0 You could say it&#8217;s my traditional new year&#8217;s resolution.\u00a0 I&#8217;m hoping this year I actually follow through.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I have a solid exercise routine that I make sure to do twice a week.\u00a0 But my goal is to do it four times a week. I stopped going to the gym a while ago and instead I do my routine at home with some excellent tools.\u00a0 If you&#8217;re looking to start the year off with a new workout or a home workout, I recommend any of the items below.\u00a0 To avoid injuries, make sure you learn how to use the equipment properly before you start!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">TRX<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I&#8217;ve <a href=\"https:\/\/asweetlife.org\/jessica-apple\/blogs\/exercise-blogs\/all-about-balance-bosu-and-blood-sugar\/19875\/\" target=\"_blank\">blogged<\/a> about my TRX a few times.\u00a0 It is my all-time favorite exercise tool.\u00a0 I first used a TRX about six months after a c-section.\u00a0 Three months later my abs were as tight as ever.\u00a0 I swear!\u00a0 If you decide to start exercising with a TRX, it&#8217;s well-worth investing in a private lesson with a trainer to get the basics down.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">BOSU<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0Balance.\u00a0 I need it in my blood sugar.\u00a0 I need it in my life.\u00a0 On the <a href=\"https:\/\/asweetlife.org\/jessica-apple\/blogs\/exercise-blogs\/all-about-balance-bosu-and-blood-sugar\/19875\/\" target=\"_blank\">BOSU<\/a> you must maintain your center of gravity over an unstable surface.\u00a0 As your body moves and shifts into and out of balance, your muscles work to keep you in place.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/asweetlife.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/BOSU1.jpg\" rel=\"mfp\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-23146 lazyload\" title=\"BOSU\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Resistance bands<\/a> (with handles)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I prefer these to free weights for many reasons.\u00a0 I love how easy they are to store, and there is no worry about dropping them on my toes!\u00a0 When you use resistance bands there is constant tension, so although you may be doing the same exercises you do with free weights, the exercise feels different.\u00a0 Because of the constant tension involved you must stabilize your body &#8211; you&#8217;re working on balance and using many muscles to do this.\u00a0 You can adjust the tension to suit your level.\u00a0 This is a great tool for biceps, triceps, shoulders, and chest.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a fitness level, meaning some bands are more difficult to stretch than others.\u00a0 The more resistance, the more difficult the exercise.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a I first balanced on my knees on the fitness ball.\u00a0 Before I knew it, I was so good at balancing on the ball I could do bicep curls, shoulder presses, and even play catch with a weighted ball without falling over.\u00a0 And yes, it took a lot of work, and some embarrassing mishaps to get there!\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a
