{"id":48687,"date":"2018-03-10T15:09:48","date_gmt":"2018-03-10T20:09:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/asweetlife.org\/?p=48687"},"modified":"2018-03-10T15:09:48","modified_gmt":"2018-03-10T20:09:48","slug":"dont-forget-to-change-your-diabetes-clocks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/asweetlife.org\/?p=48687","title":{"rendered":"Don&#8217;t Forget to Change Your (Diabetes) Clocks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Are you ready to SPRING FORWARD?\u00a0 (Of course you aren\u2019t.\u00a0 Springing forward is the worst because it feels like you\u2019ve lost six hours of sleep instead of just tweaking the clock by an hour.\u00a0 But we\u2019ll get through it together.)\u00a0 Daylight savings time starts tomorrow!<\/p>\n<p>Tomorrow morning, at 2 am, we\u2019ll set our clocks forward by an hour, allowing for more hours of daylight.\u00a0 The hardest part of changing the clocks is feeling tired for a few days, but the second hardest part is remembering to change ALL the clocks in your life.\u00a0 Microwave, kitchen clock, the one in your car, your clock radio (if people still use such a thing), and your diabetes devices all need updating.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Changing the clocks on your diabetes devices is a big deal, especially if you\u2019re using an insulin pump and are rocking several different basal rates set to specific times.\u00a0 Be sure to change the time on your pump and any glucose monitor that you use before you go to bed tonight, to ensure that your devices are up to date and timely by morning.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>And if you\u2019re unsure how to change the clock on your device, that information is usually found in the \u201csettings\u201d screen.\u00a0 Be sure to refer to your owner\u2019s manual, or place a quick call to the customer service line, if you need a hand changing the time setting.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Not everything about setting the clocks forward is tough; starting tomorrow, the afternoons are brighter and lighter, leaving some extra time to get outside and play.\u00a0 (Yes, adults \u2013 you can go outside and play, too.)\u00a0 With spring officially on its way, now is a terrific time to start taking walks after dinner to help manage that postprandial spike. <a href=\"https:\/\/asweetlife.org\/10-ways-to-make-your-daily-routine-healthier\/\">Here\u2019s a handy tip sheet<\/a> with some changes you can make today that will help spring clean your health habits.\u00a0 And if you\u2019re feeling exhausted by the time change, you can always whip up a quick <a href=\"https:\/\/asweetlife.org\/vanilla-bean-latte-with-cardamom\/\">vanilla bean latte<\/a> to give you a little boost.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t forget to change the batteries in your smoke detectors, too, while you\u2019re making little swaps here and there.\u00a0 May as well change your lancet, too.\u00a0 \u2018Tis the time change season!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":131,"featured_media":48690,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"image","meta":{"_relevanssi_hide_post":"","_relevanssi_hide_content":"","_relevanssi_pin_for_all":"","_relevanssi_pin_keywords":"","_relevanssi_unpin_keywords":"","_relevanssi_related_keywords":"","_relevanssi_related_include_ids":"","_relevanssi_related_exclude_ids":"","_relevanssi_related_no_append":"","_relevanssi_related_not_related":"","_relevanssi_related_posts":"","_relevanssi_noindex_reason":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[1437],"tags":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v22.9 (Yoast SEO v22.9) - https:\/\/yoast.com\/wordpress\/plugins\/seo\/ -->\n<title>Don&#039;t Forget to Change Your (Diabetes) Clocks<\/title>\n<meta name=\"description\" content=\"Daylight savings time starts tomorrow!
