{"id":49086,"date":"2018-05-30T09:15:02","date_gmt":"2018-05-30T13:15:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/asweetlife.org\/?p=49086"},"modified":"2018-05-30T10:31:39","modified_gmt":"2018-05-30T14:31:39","slug":"7-adhesives-to-keep-your-diabetes-devices-stuck-this-summer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/asweetlife.org\/?p=49086","title":{"rendered":"7 Adhesives to Keep Your Diabetes Devices Stuck This Summer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Summer is coming, and with the sunshine and hot days come sweat, sand, and other seasonal woes that compromise the stickiness of your diabetes devices.\u00a0 It can be a challenge to keep insulin pump sites, CGM sensors, and other diabetes gadgets stuck safely and firmly in the hot, hot heat.\u00a0 But it can be BEYOND \u00a0frustrating when the edges of your device tape start to curl and unfurl \u2026 especially if it\u2019s only been a day or two.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Nobody has time for that.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>We have a few tapes, sticky overlays, and other adhesives for diabetes devices that can help your stuff stay stuck.\u00a0 Check out the list below for tapes that are sometimes fun, always sticky, and occasionally covered by insurance.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.3m.com\/3M\/en_US\/company-us\/all-3m-products\/?N=5002385+8707795+8707798+8710678+8710820+8711017+8717779+3294857497&amp;rt=r3\">Tegaderm<\/a><\/strong>\u2013\u00a0 From 3m, this transparent film \u201callows for continuous monitoring of the insertion site.\u201d\u00a0 Handy when you\u2019re using the tape to cover a continuous glucose monitoring device, or a pump site.\u00a0 The tape is waterproof and sometimes covered by insurance companies, so check and see if your insurer is on board.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.smith-nephew.com\/professional\/products\/advanced-wound-management\/opsite\/opsite-flexifix\/\">Opsite Flexifix<\/a><\/strong>\u2013 This tape is made by Smith &amp; Nephew and can be ordered through their website (sometimes covered by insurance companies \u2013 be sure to ask if yours covers tapes), but many people purchase their roll of Opsite Flexifix from Amazon.\u00a0 Opsite has been around for several years and can be cut to fit a multitude of device needs.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.smith-nephew.com\/key-products\/advanced-wound-management\/iv3000\/\">IV 3000<\/a><\/strong>\u2013\u00a0 Another staple (not literally) in the diabetes community, IV 3000 is a tape option from Smith &amp; Nephew billed as a \u201cmoisture responsive catheter dressing\u201d that many PWD use to keep their devices secure all year \u2018round.\u00a0 Like Opsite and Tegaderm, it can be cut to fit whatever is flopping.\u00a0 <em>(Note: I\u2019ve always loved the name of this one because it reminds me of Andre 3000 from Outkast, which makes me want to tell Miss Jackson I\u2019m sorry.) \u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/rockadex.myshopify.com\/\">RockADex<\/a><\/strong>\u2013 Based in Australia, this tape keeps devices stuck, <a href=\"https:\/\/rockadex.myshopify.com\/collections\/frontpage\/products\/dexcom-g4-g5-star-wars-yoda-patch-x-05\">it does<\/a>.
