Andrew and I have since separated. Type 1 diabetes was not the cause of this decision, but more the last in a series of hurdles our marriage just couldn’t overcome. But while nothing about divorce is easy, the simple acknowledgment that we weren’t working well together anymore has actually strengthened our ability to tackle diabetes, and parenting in general, as a team.

It's AP exam season, aka a year's worth of learning crammed into one three hour test. It's a challenge for every student sitting the exam. Throw diabetes into the mix and the challenge may be tougher.
The dentist whispered something to his assistant about fetching something. She quickly returned with an empty juice box and a Ziploc bag of white sugar.
He dangled them in the air.
“This is what you’re putting on his teeth,” he said.
I could feel my face get hot.
After five years of being tied to diabetes 24/7, I realize it is time for me to give myself permission to follow my own dreams again.
“I started decorating my pods a few years ago when a friend of mine invited me to join a Facebook page called "Pimp my Pod," said Fishman. “There were so many interesting and unique designs and a multitude of variations so I figured I would give it a try.”
