Maya’s journey with type 1 diabetes has been going strong––stretching over two continents for over three decades now! Diagnosed as a child, diabetes was once a source of pain and struggle but with the discovery of Dr. Bernstein’s methods and low carb eating, it became a positive motivating factor in normalizing blood glucose levels and building both a local and international community around achieving this common goal. A visual designer and an activist, a great outdoors, art, film, music, and culture enthusiast based in the Pacific Northwest, Maya shares a home with a loving partner and their cat Charlie.
