Jay Cutler Releases Fifth “Touchdowns for Diabetes” Episode

Jay Cutler has not let type 1 diabetes hold him back from doing what he loves. Since being diagnosed after his second season in the NFL he has worked to help inspire children with diabetes to achieve their goals, and let them see that diabetes doesn’t have to stop them from being who they want to be.
The Chicago Bears
quarterback teamed up with Eli Lilly and Company to raise money for kids with diabetes, and share his own story in a program called Touchdowns for Diabetes. As a part of the program Cutler has created a series of webisodes where he opens up about dealing with diabetes on and off the field, and the fifth of these webisodes was released last week.
As part of the program, for every touchdown pass Jay completes during the 2009 season, Lilly will donate $1000 to the American Diabetes Association’s camp scholarship fund. And for every pass Jay completes this season, they will donate $100 to the scholarship fund to allow even more kids the chance to attend camp next summer.

as an athlete I liked jay cutler but when he became one of us I was amazed by how he embraced diabetes and what he is doing to help some of the young people affected by the disease.  He attributes his diabetes support structures for his successful management and we all know that we need family and support for that.  Good luck Jay and thanks for what you are doing
