Lipitor Raises Risk of Type 2 Diabetes

The results of three large randomized clinical trials examining the predictors of new-onset type 2 diabetes in patients treated with Lipitor (Atorvastatin) were published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology.
The researchers found that patients treated with high-doses of atorvastatin had a slightly increased risk ofnew-onset type 2 diabetes, especially among people who also have other risk factors for type 2 diabetes including obesity, elevated triglycerides and high blood pressure.
