Nick Jonas and Bayer HealthCare Announce The Simple Inspirations Contest

Nick Jonas, of the Jonas Brothers, has teamed up with Bayer HealthCare for the “Simple Inspirations” contest. The contest, sponsored by Bayer HealthCare, challenges people living with diabetes to motivate newly diagnosed patients by sharing their most inspirational thoughts about living with the disease. The goal of the contest is to enrich the lives of everyone who has diabetes and to demonstrate that people with diabetes can live a full and engaged life by effectively managing their condition. One grand prize winner will meet international singing sensation Nick Jonas at the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation’s Los Angeles Walk to Cure Diabetes. The winner will also appear in a video with Nick to be launched on November 14, 2011 — World Diabetes Day. 

Bayer’s “Simple Inspirations” contest asks entrants to visit www.NicksSimpleWins.com and submit up to 140 words, with an optional accompanying image, detailing what inspirational thoughts they would share with someone recently diagnosed with diabetes. Entries can be lyrics, a poem or short essay and will be accepted until [October 3, 2011]. The contest is open to people with diabetes aged 13+ years. Nick and a team of judges will select one grand prize winner. Twelve runners up will receive a 2012 calendar featuring the inspirational thoughts and images from the winner and runner-up entries. The top inspirational thoughts and World Diabetes Day video will be posted on www.NicksSimpleWins.com.

Nick Jonas, now 18, was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when he was 13. Since he publicly announced his diagnosis, he has become widely recognized and applauded for speaking out passionately to help other young people with diabetes through efforts to educate, support and inspire. Nick uses Bayer’s CONTOUR® USB meter and knows how important good diabetes management is.

“Through my work with Bayer, I am continually moved by the feedback I get from people who tell me that I’ve inspired them because of my diabetes,” said Nick. “In turn, I am just as motivated by their diabetes stories.
