Eat Responsibly: Change The Way You Think About Food

It’s Diabetes Awareness Month. For those of us with existing diabetes, we are aware of our disease 12 months out of the year, not just during November. But we can use this month to share what we know with others, with the millions of prediabetics in America, and with everyone who is interested in living a healthful lifestyle. A healthy diet for a person with diabetes is a healthy diet for everyone.

Each and every one of us can do our part to help curb the type 2 diabetes epidemic if we eat responsibly and encourage others to do the same.

To eat responsibly we don’t have to make dramatic changes. We simply need to change our attitude about junk food and fast food and regard them as we would alcohol. Limit our intake. And know there is a limit. We can have dessert sometimes, as a treat. We can eat fast food once in a while. But these things cannot be our norm. They must be the exceptions and the splurges.

Eat Responsibly and you send a message to the food industry and the fast food chains that you expect better. Eat responsibly and you lower your risk for obesity, type 2 diabetes, and heart disease. Eat responsibly and you lower health care costs. Eat responsibly. There is no other choice.

Please visit Eat Responsibly on Facebook and help us get the message out!
