Summer Reading: Riva Greenberg Recommends…

Are you looking for a good book to take along on your vacation this summer?  All month ASweetLife’s bloggers and contributors will be sharing some of their favorites.

Time to Think : Listening to Ignite the Human Mind by Nancy Kline.

I haven’t read a book that has stuck with me like this one in a long time. Kline, an international consultant and coach, has created a six step model that anyone can follow to help others think. Primarily the model consists of paying full attention, not interrupting, and asking more questions.

Listening is a gift we give each other. In today’s society where we are constantly on super-speed, interrupting each other and finishing others’ sentences, we are short circuiting each other’s thinking. We all need space and an active listener to do our best thinking.  Kline shows us how to be that listener and help bring out the best in each others’ thinking.  If you think that has nothing to do with diabetes, think again.
