Bears Quarterback Jay Cutler Meets With Type 1 Teens for Word Diabetes Day

Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler visited the University of Chicago’s Kovler Diabetes Center on World Diabetes Day, Chicago Press Release reported.

Cutler met with teenage diabetics to discuss his experience with diabetes. The quarterback recently recorded six videos that detail his experience with diabetes, its impact on his life and sports career, and how he manages the disease as a professional athlete.

Cutler, the patients, and their parents also toured the research laboratories at the Kovler Diabetes Center to observe cutting-edge scientific efforts working to improve the understanding and treatment of the disease.

Cutler has also teamed up with drugmaker Eli Lilly on the  “Touchdowns for Diabetes” campaign. The drug maker has pledged to donate $1,000 to the American Diabetes Association’s summer camp, for each touchdown pass Cutler completes this season (roughly the cost of one full camp scholarship) and $100 for every pass cutler completes.
