Tom Hanks has type 2 diabetes. He revealed his diagnosis on the David Letterman Show. Hanks said the doctor told him, “You know those high blood sugar numbers you’ve been dealing with since you were 36? Well, you’ve graduated. You’ve got type 2 diabetes, young man.”
Hanks stated that diabetes is controllable and then said – jokingly – “Something’s gonna kill us all, Dave.” He went on to say that his doctor told him if he could weigh as little as he did in high school, he would essentially be completely healthy and would not have type 2 diabetes. To that, Hanks said he replied, “Well, I’m going to have type 2 diabetes.”
