Business Wire reports that Calibra Medical Inc., formerly known as Seattle Medical Technologies Inc., announced today that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has given Finesse, the company’s insulin patch-pen, 510(k) clearance.
Only 2” long, 1” wide and ¼” thick, Finesse is able to hold and deliver prescribed amounts of insulin over multiple days while remaining firmly in place throughout a patient’s daily activities, including showering, exercising and sleeping.
Finesse is the first of several non-electronic devices under development by the company that simplify mealtime insulin delivery. Finesse represents a new category of simple mechanical devices intended to make insulin therapy adherence easier for patients to achieve at an affordable price point. The company has already initiated a clinical trial in the US.
I have been diabetic for 50 years basically no health problems on a pump would like to know more about the patch
I would like to be part of the trial for this product. I have had diabetes since childhood (currently 45 y/o) and am tired of the constant sticks, gear and such. Any information you can send me would be greatly appreciated. I know some companies pay their participants for the study, I do not need to be paid for it, I just want something that is easy to use and won’t hinder my day to day activities.
i want to know all about…..
I have had Diabetes since 1973 and over time, there are certain areas which I can no longer insert a needle into due to the build up of fatty tissue, which is a result of the insertion of numerous needles. I worry that in years to come, I will run out of areas which I am able to insert a needle and, therefore, I would be very interested in finding out more information about the insulin patch and would also like to be involved in any trials regarding this product.
I lost 80 percent of my pancreas in and injury when I was in the military..I’m on insulin and would love to be on a patch to help control my diabetes since I am a very unusual diabetic.
