Blood Pressure Drug Reduces Risk Of Cardiovascular Disease and Stroke

According to a press release by the AHA, a new study published in Hypertension: Journal of the American Heart Association has shown that a long-acting ACE inhibitor used to reduce blood pressure significantly decreased the risk for cardiovascular disease, including stroke, in normal weight, overweight and obese patients.  Obese patients, who had higher initial blood pressure rates, gained the greatest benefit from blood pressure-lowering therapy.
In the United States, an estimated 81 million people suffer from cardiovascular disease, according to the American Heart Association.
