With so many healthy and nutritious ingredients, this pie style cheesecake could almost be part of the main course, though I prefer to save it for an after dinner treat in our house as I enjoy the dessert and tea ritual at the end of a meal (the boys love to make tea every evening and are now old enough to hold the kettle of hot water after it has boiled; they are growing up).
Thanksgiving, for me, conjures memories of my family getting together, laughing, eating, catching up with one another’s lives, watching the Macy’s Day Parade on television and my grandmother (followed in later years by my mom) stressing over the meal.
Use this earthy/nutty pilaf as a stuffing, or serve it as a side dish. And don’t just reserve it for Thanksgiving.
They could use a break from all this pressure to perform on the foodiest of all the food holidays. Here, give Brussels sprouts a go. Disliked by many a child, I am almost positive that he (or she) will gobble this up in minutes. And maybe even ask you for seconds. I think that the trick here is cream, which in my opinion, makes most things better and elevates them to a status fit for a feast and not just an everyday side...
