Walnuts: The Supreme Snack

I’m a little bit in love with walnuts. It wasn’t always like this. In fact, I’ve come full circle. In the good ole days before diabetes, I studied with my close friend, John, in various cafes. Often we'd share a brownie over coffee. And for some reason, time and again, we’d sink our teeth into a gooey chocolate brownie ready for a taste of heaven, and instead encounter a walnut. “Ewwww,” I’d say.

Nice and Early

My grandparents in Florida always liked restaurants that offered an early bird special. I don't think they knew it, but they were on to something. Eating early is good for you. If you finish your food a few hours before you go to sleep, your body will have time to complete digestion, and you can check to see exactly where your blood sugar is before you sign out for the day.
